Long time..

I haven’t posted in a while, but spam finally got me back to the site. As I sit here, with my now 1 year old youngest sun ( who is up with the sun ) watching Curious George, I wish you all well.

Still alive

Still alive and active, busier than hell. This blog has become somewhat of a facebook orphan, and that is just wrong man, wrong.

Baby’s first night home

Tonight is BOF first night home and all is going well.  He is starting off much better than NEF or GKF did, at least feeding wise.  Hopefully we can avoid the acid reflux and colic problems. So far so good.  Which for those of you without kids mean:  No crying or discomfort without a reason. He’s cried because: he’s wet, about to poop, pooped, hungry.  No mysteries. Right now he is feeding, and on the 2 hr or so cycle.  Long night ahead, even if it goes well.

Celtics

I’m glad the Celtics won tonight, but this game is why I fucking hate the NBA.  Flopping, hacking and the worst officiating ever.  WTF.It reminded me of the frustration I’d feel, playing cranston west in cranston and having a cranston west teacher foul me out – just because. So David Stern, answer this:NBA refs:  Terrible or corrupt

No.3 has arrived!

Just a quick note, the camera is at the hospital, but No. 3 arrived at 3:51pm today, weighing in at 7lbs 11oz.I don’t have the length yet.  Everything went well, no problems for mom or baby! Today is a great day!   Pictures….  Update:  21 inches long.  So he is a little smaller than the first two.  Everyone is doing well.  As I write this he is getting snipped.

Indiana Jones

Okay,Not to needle into NutPharm’s territory, but JJF and I saw the latest Indiana Jones last night, as our last date before we have no3 tomorrow.  I will write something more on it later.  For right now, let me just say this:  this movie is like Highlander II.  It never existed.   I’m forming a chapter of the M.G.L.S.F.U.H.M chapter ( Make George Lucas Stop Fucking Up His Movies ).Dammit.  Update:Days later, I find myself unable to bring myself to think about this movie enough to write up why I didn’t like it.Sorry.

Update….

Sorry for the wait.

The trip to Microsoft went okay ( we where outside Seattle and it was nice and all but nothing exciting, all work). It was awkward because I didn’t want anyone to bring up my old/next boss or say “Hey O, I’m surprised he hasn’t tried to hire you yet”. The worst was the plane ride home, where it was just me and the current architect that I work with ( I don’t report to him, but he tells me what to do ). I found out in Chicago/Midway on a layover that my background checks had cleared and it was a done deal.

So, after a week long trip, last Monday I gave my notice. Everyone is pretty supportive at work, although I’m getting some pressure to stay from surprisingly enough other teams that where planning on poaching me in the future.

So now, I’m that guy who has given his notice. I’m not cruising, but I find the days less stressful (aside from dodging the VP of software who may want to have a “talk” with me ).

My new job will be with these guys @ www.industrialdefender.com. I’ll be a senior’ish engineer/lead.

Everyone else is doing okay. JJF has diabetes right now from the pregnancy, so she is taking meds, eating different, and getting the needle all the time. But everything else is going well. We should have no.3 son in the next couple of weeks.

I guess the only sad thing going on is that my sister has lost her house because of finance/business troubles ( they own their own biz in the FLA ). That is sad. I remember them getting that house when I was down there after PC, and how much it had not and had changed when I was there last year ( it had two kids in it ). I’m not super in love with my house, but I can’t imagine losing it either. As she told me “We are now a statistic”.

Anyhoo, I’ll try to write about my most recent Apple store adventure and why I can’t give Apple enough of my money later, if not the next message may be the new baby one.

Later

Gone Missing

At least that is what some may have thought.  Well, I am not missing, although time continues to fly past at an alarming rate.

So what is new?  Well, the biggest thing is that we are 33 weeks + for #3.  Jen is doing well, but this is the least, shall we say comfortable of the three pregnancies.  She is doing well though.  We had to buy, or rather buy again some staple items ( swing, bedding, pack and play, and stroller/car seat ), and I was a little nostalgic, walking getting things at babies R us, remembering that it was about 5 years ago that we last did this, and how little we knew what we where doing.

The boys are well.  Nate is done learn to skate, and soccer has started ( my second season coaching), and this season, he may actually try, he scored his first three goals on Sat. ( for those who haven’t seen 4 and under soccer, usually it is a few kids with no clue, a few sucking thumbs, and one or two kids who "get it" and score at will, and Nate was that kid).  It was incredible, considering that he hated to play in games last season.

Gabe, is 2, and terrible.  Really, really terrible.  Tantrums, fits etc.  But he remains cute, so we’ll keep him.

Me, well I’m doing some interesting things.  At work, we continue the death March on the "Next Gen" product that I’ve been working on for a couple of years.  Jay will laugh because I have to go to visit our "Friends in Redmond" for all of next week.  But is good to be the "in emergency break glass" engineer brought along for the week long testing at the lab.  That and I’m doing what any guy with two kids, a third on the way and a pretty good job would do – quitting.   I have gotten the proverbial "Offer I can’t refuse".  See, my boss for the last 6 years left for this other company, and he wants me to go with him.  I can’t say no.  It is kind of scary, leaving a big company for a smaller one ( don’t want to say yet ), but how often do you get offered a great job, by someone you trust?  Someone who has always looked out for you.  There are many great reasons to take the job, and the only ones not to are based on fear and sentimentality.  I am not going to turn this down and regret it forever.  Anyhoo.  Took a pee in a cup for it today,  hopefully I’ll have the final final word in the next day or two.  Actually, what I want to do is to give my notice Friday, so that the long flight to Redmond on Sunday with my other boss is extra great ( planes are not meant for tall men, so I’m already in for an uncomfortable trip).
